Day 9 Dinner Debriefing

The old Railway Square district of Santa Rosa was thronged with visitors to the Second Annual Hand Cart Regatta, (see below), so I thought it would be impossible to get into any of the restaurants near there. In this I was wrong, and Caroline was right; the funky counter-culture people were not lining up to get into Le Gare, a traditional French Restaurant. Nothing adventurous about the food there, unless you think escargot or frog’s legs count. I had the beef Wellington, because although I find it a challenge to make, I just love eating it. Caroline had the Veal Cordon Bleu, and both dinners were very good. We enjoyed a bottle of Kendall-Jackson Cabernet. Since it was that kind of menu, we shared a Creme Brulee for dessert; it was very good, too, but it’s just possible mine is better.
